In 1999, our church founder-Mother Velma Johnson, was inspired to begin a church, after she had helped many spiritual sons & daughters with their ministries in the past. She felt led to answer the call that God had on her life. Grace & Mercy Ministries was born. It started in the home of a former member & quickly filled with her children and their families. The power of God truly met them there and in October 1999, Mother Johnson found the living room to be too small. God moved them to 2535 McFadden Rd. Jackson, MS. Little did Mother Johnson know that in October 2004, the Lord would send her youngest son, Pastor M. J. Johnson (at that time, Minister Johnson) and his family.

Over a short period of time, Mother Johnson fulfilled the will of the Lord in her son’s life by appointing him as Assistant Pastor 2005. God gave a Word of Prophecy through Pastor Jay that the time at the storefront would soon be over. The church began to grow swiftly. In September 2006, the prophecy was fulfilled and the church was able to purchase a building and land at 1107 Westhaven Blvd. In 2006, Mother Johnson stepped aside & gave God All of the Praise as her son, Pastor M.J. Johnson, took on the work and was installed as Senior Pastor.

At that point, the Lord instructed Pastor, M.J. Johnson of its’ new name, Abounding Grace World Healing Church. The church has been moving forward in God ever since. And now we celebrate the purchase of the new sanctuary of Abounding Grace World Healing Church located at 159 Fredrica Avenue with the first service being held on June 1, 2012.
